I’m Emily and I live in a village in South Norwich, Norfolk. I have always been passionate about the written word and presentation of text. I finally decided to put this interest to the test and started studying Essential Proofreading with the Publishing Training Centre (PTC) in 2024. In 2025 I completed the course and received a Distinction, and became a PQB-Qualified Proofreader. I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) and I will be continuing my professional development through both the CIEP and with further courses with PTC.
In my spare time, my interests include nature (as a bit of a bird watcher), music (as I am also a singer) and Psychology (as this is what I studied at university) so I’m especially interested in working with these subjects, however, I am happy to work with anyone producing non-fiction text, including reviewing websites.
I also specialise in proofreading in the financial services industry due to my experience of working in this area. I worked for over nine years for a fintech company, providing a custom CRM software for IFAs and I worked for four years in the banking sector.
Additionally, I have a technical background as I worked as a Technology Consultant for five years so I can also provide editorial services for websites and technical process maps. I have a great deal of experience in writing and proof-editing user guides and instruction manuals to provide clarity and simplification making them more user-friendly.
